Annual General Meeting
The Billericay District Residents’ Association will be holding its Annual General Meeting on Friday, May 16 2008 at 8pm in the Canon Roche Social Centre, Laindon Road, Billericay. The guest speaker will be Marc Davis, Locality Commissioning Director for Brentwood, Billericay and Wickford, of the South West Essex Primary Care Trust whose subject will be “HEALTH SERVICES FOR THE PEOPLE OF BILLERICAY”. It is hoped that a member of the management team of South Essex Partnership Trust (SEPT) will also be able to attend.
Following the Presentation, the Question & Answer session and the short meeting to deal with the formal AGM business, there will be light refreshments and an opportunity to meet the members of the Executive, East and Burstead Area Committees.
MORE HELP NEEDED.
The response to my plea for assistance in the April issue of The Resident was both surprising and very pleasing, my heartfelt thanks to those who volunteered. However such was the response that I am tempted to push my luck and seek assistance in another area. The Association is comprised of four committees; the Executive Committee and the Burstead, East and West Area Committees. The Burstead Area Committee has been incorporated in the East Area Committee whilst the West Area Committee has been suspended for the past couple of years. It would be to the advantage of the residents of the area and to the Association if the West Area Committee could be resurrected; to do this 7/8 people would be required to become committee members.
The work of the committee need not be onerous in fact it can be quite interesting. The subject in which all committees have a particular interest is that of planning. Lists of planning applications are available from the District Council and associated drawings can be examined at the Basildon Centre. Without doubt planning is a major activity and can be quite challenging. Other aspects of interest to the local community e.g. transport, parking, road surfaces and the environment in general will also be found on the agenda. Meetings are held in the homes of members in a congenial atmosphere, including tea and biscuits, which gives rise to good fellowship.
If you would like to resurrect the West Area Committee and play a part in local community please contact me, Trevor Stansfield, 174 Perry Street, 01277 623519 or e-mail tremar@aol.com
