Zoe Binning

It is with great sadness that I have to report the death of Zoe Binning on Friday 13 March in Basildon hospital. She died from various ailments including acute arthritis, pneumonia and a pulmonary embolism and was cremated at Chelmsford crematorium on Monday 30th March. She was 88 years old.

Zoe was born in Manchester on 1st May 1920 and for some time lived in Hounslow, then, in the thirties, the family moved to East Ham in Forest Gate. In 1943 she married Joe and they set up home in West Ham in Forest Gate. Always very keen on amateur dramatics she performed in many plays and had such a good memory she would learn every member’s script, so she could prompt them if they forgot their lines. She had a qualification in English language and English literature and would find fault with the spelling and diction in editorials and notices; her passion was making up crosswords and word searches which she would often have published.
