Life with the Lions
As autumn settles
in, the Lions are turning their attention towards
Fund-raising, and as the nights draw in, why not cuddle up with a cosy
quiz for
all the family. A new quiz is now available from the Lions website at
http://www.billericaylions.com/quiz.htm or from our
bookstall in the high street. There are 100 clues to songs that have
been on
the charts during the Christmas period spanning over the last 50 years,
so
there should be something there for all ages. Oh dear, it’s only
October and
there I am mentioning Christmas already.
Whilst
thoughts of Christmas might still be
in the distance for most of us, for some charities the preparation has
to start
early. At our last fellowship meeting, Debbie Reed visited and gave us
a
presentation on her experiences with Operation Christmas Child (OCC). OCC distributes shoe boxes
to children in
poorer countries, who might otherwise not receive anything. Packed shoe
boxes
are donated by the public and contain things that we take for granted
such as
toothbrush, flannel, soap, gloves, pens, pencils, a small toy and some
sweets.
Shoe boxes are dropped off at local points and then taken to a
distribution
point in
Lions fund-raising efforts continue with a quiz night on 31st October at the Archer Hall in Emmanuel Church, so quiz lovers watch out for more information as “the theme has yet to be communicated”, which basically means we haven’t made up our minds yet. But then That’s Life ….. with the Lions.
