Railways, Tram/Metro systems, Buses and Emergency and Construction vehicles are another long time interest of mine, and though I'm not a "Spotter" as such, and don't have any interest in collecting numbers or anything like that, I do love to take photographs of them, so I guess that makes me a "Photter" instead. I've always loved looking at locos, and I feel exactly the same way about the Steam, Diesel and Electric units. As a child I regularly got to see the "Black Fives" in full steam and hauling coal wagons up to the local yard, where my late father worked, and I suspect that my love of them was instilled there. It was a sad day in 1968, when the very last train came into the village, and though I was there to see it, I didn't have a camera in those days, and wasn't able to photograph the event. Fortunately we now have one of the best preserved Steam railways in the UK at the nearby East Lancashire Railway, and this has provided many great photo opportunties in the years since Doctor Beeching's rotten Axe fell on my local line. On the odd trips I have out to various railways, I always end up taking lots of pictures of the local buses as well, and pretty much anything else that takes my fancy, and you can find the results of all these trips at my various Fotopic Galleries. This section contains a number of pictures from my own collection, and a link to the much larger gallery at my "Fotopics" site, where all of my newer images are now displayed. |
