Here's W S Gilbeart with the libretto of his latest masterpiece, 'Iolanthe'. Not content with writing all the words, he's also producing the show, and he's got all of the stage directions carefully worked out and written down. Now all he needs is to persuade a Faery Bearie or two to step into the limelight!
|
|
Of course, he can't take all the credit, since his illustrious collaborator Arfur Sullivan has contributed some wonderfully evocative music. Here he is with the score, ready to conduct the very first performance - provided, of course, he can get the orchestral parts copied out in time!

Gilbeart is made from silver sparse, wavy mohair, and he measures approximately 5 inches high when standing – which he can do all by himself! His arms and legs are thread jointed, and he has a cotter pin joint for his head. He is stuffed with polyester and steel shot, so he’s heavy, floppy and poseable. He has an embroidered perle cotton nose and shiny black glass eyes, and carries his handmade leather-bound libretto and quill pen.

Sullivan is made of long dark brown sparse mohair, carefully scissor-sculpted on his face. Like his friend Gilbeart, he measures approximately 5 inches high when standing – which he can also do by himself. His arms and legs are thread jointed, and he has a cotter pin joint for his head. He is stuffed with polyester and steel shot, with an embroidered perle cotton nose and shiny black glass eyes. He carries his handmade leather-bound score and a conductor's baton.

Gilbeart and Sullivan do their best work together, but they can't be guaranteed to agree on everything, even so!
