Liverpool

My ancestors moved from Shropshire to Leicester, living in Livingstone Street and later at Bolton Road.

My family arrived in Liverpool from Leicestershire in the early 1900s, my great grandfather William and wife Martha, and their children, Elizabeth, Alice, Emma, Henry, Bertram, Ethel, John and Herbert. Their address in 1911 was in Chapel Street, Garston and then later they moved down towards the docks and the River Mersey.

Where they moved to had the railway at one end and the River Mersey and docks at the other cut off a tight small community from the rest of Garston. There was a thriving community serviced by lots of employment, good housing stock and numerous public houses, the area was and still is fondly called 'under the bridge'.
