Allied Breweries was created through a merger of three of the UK's large region brewers in 1961. The three breweries in question were Ind Coope, Ansells & Tetley Walker and the headquarters were located in Burton-on-Trent. It was again merged with Carlsberg in 1992 to became Carlsberg-Tetley and was renamed to Carlsberg UK when Carlsberg assumed control in 2004.

Remarks: The history of Skol beer is a somewhat confused one. It originated as a brand brewed in the Alloa Brewery owned by Ind Coope. In 1964 an international coming together of Allied, Labatt, Pripps and Unibra created Skol International. The participation in Skol International has then changed throughout the years. |
