The site of the Benedictine Abbey in Alpirsbach has been the site of a brewery from as far back as 1095. In 1877 Karl Albert Glauner travelled to Weihenstphan to train as a master brewer, he returned to Alpirsbach in 1880 and began to brew beer at the brewery. The brewery in now in the hands of the forth generation of Glauner brewers.
