Bavaria Brauerei

Named after an area of Germany at completely the other end
of the country the Bavaria Brauerei was founded in Hamburg in 1897. In 1922 it
was merged with the Actien Brauerei from St Pauli to form the Bavaria und
St.Pauli Brauerei AG. It was bought by Brau & Brunnen in 1994 when it was
further merged with the Elbschloss Brauerei. It was sold onto to
Holsten in 1998
and when Carlsberg assumed control of Holsten in 2004 it became part of the
Carlsberg global brewing machine.

Remarks: I believe this to be the oldest glass in my collection. I don't know if the glass pre-dates the 1922 when the Bavaria Brewery was merged but certainly the style and feel of the label is not like my modern glasses and the actual glass is much thinner and more delicate than the others. |
