Beck's was founded in 1873 under the name of Kaiserbrauerei Beck & May Co.H.G in Bremen. It merged part of its operations with the C.H. Haake Brauerei and this was then marketed separately from Becks. It was family owned until 2002 when it was sold to InBev, the Belgian drinks groups. It was always been a strong exporter of its beer and is brewed in many countries under licence.
