Brains was founded in Cardiff in 1882 when the Brain family
purchased the brewery from the Thomas brothers who had owned the building
previously. Brains took over Crown Buckley in 1998 and continues to produce some
of the Crown Buckley beers alongside their well known SA range of beers. The
brewery is still family owned.
