Butcombe was established in 1978 by Simon Whitmore (fomrerly a managing directory with Courage in their Bristol plant) who later sold the brewery to Guy Newell in 2003. Originally established in the billage of Butcombe the brewery moved to a purpose built site in 2005 in Wrington.
