Camerons was created as a limited company in 1894 when John William Cameron had been engaged to run the Lion Brewery back in 1865. It was last independent in 1974 when it was owned by a succession of breweries before being bought by Wolverhampton & Dudley in 1992. It was further sold in 2001 to Castle Eden and brewing continued, initially under the name of Castle Eden & Cameron's Brewing Company and now under the name of Camerons Brewery Ltd.
