Brewing at the Castle Eden Inn started in 1826 when they brewed under the Nimmo brand. The brewery was taken over in 1963 by Whitbread and renamed as the Whitbread East Pennies. In 1998 Whitbread planned to close the brewery but it was saved as an independent and in 2001 purchased Cameron's from Wolverhampton & Dudley. In 2002 however the brewery in Castle Eden was closed and the beer are now brewed in Cameron's brewery in Hartlepool, originally under the name Castle Eden & Cameron's Brewing Company which is now renamed as Camerons Brewery Ltd.
