Pierre Celis, the man behind the revived brewery at Hoegaarden, founded the Celis Brewery in Austin, Texas in 1991. In 1994 a stake in the brewery was bought by Miller and a few years later Pierre sold the rest of the brewery to the brewing giants. Miller closed the brewery in 2001 but it was bought up by the Michigan Brewing Company in 2002 and they are currently producing Celis beers.
