The Dormunder Actien Brauerei or DAB as it is sometimes
known was founded in 1868 but already by 1879 it was exporting its beers to
Holland, Belgium, France, India and Japan. It was in 1872 that the brewery
formerly known as Herberz & Co actually became Dormunder Actien Brauerei.
1971 saw the acquisition of the Hansa Brewery also of Dortmund and in 1996 it
established the rights to the Kronen Brewery again of Dortmund. The brewery is
now owned by the giant Radeberger Group in Germany.
