The Dortmunder Thierbrauerei was
founded in 1854 by Dortmund merchants Wilhelm Hövel, Gustav Thier and
Heinrich Sonnenschein as the Hövel, Thier and Co Brewery. After the
death of Gustav Thier in 1883 the bewery was taken over by his son
Gustav Jnr and renamed as the Thier Brewery. In 1992 the brewery was
taken over the DAB Brewery.
