Eldridge Pope was founded in 1837 but these days it has
dropped the brewing side of its business and now concentrates on its estate of
public houses. The Eldridge Pope range of beers were brewed for a time in the
Thomas Hardy brewery.

Remarks: Another "classic" attempt at a continental lager from a English brewery. This picture of an old can shows that this beer is nothing to to do with the more well known German König brewery. |

Remarks: Not content with the above psydo-continental beer König, Eldridge Pope were also responsible for this German sounding Faust Lager. This beermat shows the history behind the beer. Interestingly Faust won the silver prize for Keg Larger at the 1987 Brewing Industry International Awards. |
