Website: Gales
It was Richard Gale who first aquired the Ship & Bell Inn in 1847 from where the Gale brewing company under his son, George emerged. In 1896 the company was placed under the control of Herbert Bowyer who expanded into Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire and Surrey. The brewery took over the Angel Brewery in Sussex during this period. The brewery was bought by Fullers in 2005 and they closed the brewery in 2006. Production of any remaining Gales beers are now brewed in Fuller's Chiswick brewery.
