The Ginder brewery was established in 1888 by Corneel Van Ginderachter. For many years the brewery was known by it's most famous product, Ginder Ale, and it was until 1948 that the brewery was actually named as the Martinas Brewery. From the 1970's the brewery came under control of Artois of Leuven and in 1989 they purchases the brewery and production of Ginder Ale moved to Leuven.
