Greenall Whitley

Location: Warrington, Cheshire, England
Website: Entry for Greenalls in the Directory of UK Real Ale Breweries
Greenalls started life in 1762 in St Helens and then
relocated in Warrington in 1787. They took over Shipstones in 1978 but ceased
brewing in 1991 to concentrate their business efforts on their estate of pubs
and hotels. The Greenall brands were then brewed by
Allied Breweries and
subsequently by Carlsberg-Tetley.

Remarks:
Grünhalle was another one of the fake-continental lagers that
British brewers were so fond of producing in the 1970's and
80's. Grünhalle gets it's name from a very literate German
translation of Green-(H)alls. |
