Founded by Pierre Celis in Hoegaarden as late as 1966 and it wasn't much later in 1989 that M. Celis retired and sold the brewery to Interbrew (InBev). The brewery in Hoegaarden is now closed with production of the Hoegaarden beers being brewed in the Jupille brewery in southern Belgium.
