Staatliches Hofbräuhau in München

Location: Munich, Bavaria, Germany
Website: Hofbräu München
The drinkers of Munich must be quite thankful to Wilhelm V, Duke of Bavaria who in 1589 decided to construct the Staatliches Hofbräuhaus in München (lit. state court-brewery in Munich) The Hof (translated as court) comes from the brewery's history as a royal brewery in the Kingdom of Bavaria. The brewery operates the Hofbräuhaus am Platzl, the Hofbräukeller, and the second largest tent at the Oktoberfest (Hofbräu-Festzelt). The brewery have partner relationships with other breweries both in German and in the rest of the world but it remains an independent brewery. Franchises have though been opened as far a field as Australia and the US and even at the Bangkok International Airport.
