The Ind Coope brewery was established in Burton Upon Trent
in 1856 but the partnership between Edward Ind and C.E. Coope goes back much
earlier to a pub in Romford. In 1934 it merged with Samuel Allsopp and then it
merged again with Ansells and Tetley Walker to become
Allied Breweries.

Remarks: Ian Fleming thought that this glass was a Young's Triple A. This was a barley wine from the 60s or 70s with an ABV of 11% - PHEW! I could still only find references to Young's Triple A being a standard bitter brewed after this time. (Another Link) However when I then searched for the phrase "Triple A" and "Barley Wine" I found the following link, identifying it as an Ind Coope Brew. |
