Website: Krüger history site
After World War I brewery Alfons Lootjens from Kaprijke took it upon himself to establish a central brewery in Meetjesland. Eventually a co-operative of 23 brewers was set up and named the "Centrale Brouwerij Paul Krüger" (The central brewery of Paul Krüger). It took over the Bouwerij Aigle-Belgica from Bruges in the 1970's before being taken over itself in 1978 by Piedboeuf. In 1989 after the creation of Interbrew by Piedoeuf and Artois production of Krüger halted.
