Brouwerij Lamot

Location: Mechelen, Belgium
Website: Lamot Brewery history page on the Lamot conference centre website
The Lamot brewery was founded by Jan Baptist Lamot in 1801.
The brewery bounced around the hands of various members of the Lamot family
before it was aquired by Bass Charrington in 1970. It was closed as a brewery
soon afterwards and then in 1984 the Brasseries
Piedboeuf bought the Lamot brewery back from Bass PLC. In an ironic twist
after Piedboeuf and Artois had merged to form Interbrew
in 1987, this brewery bought out Bass in the year 2000.
The brewery buildings have now been demolished but now house a modern conference
centre still bearing the name Lamot.
