Brouwerij Liefmans
![]()
Location: Oudenaarde, Belgium
Website: Liefmans Brewery
There are records of a brewery in Oudenaarde back in 1679
but it was in 1770 that Jacobus Liefmans established himself as a brewer there.
The brewery was sold in 1905 to Pierre van Geluwe although a condition of the
sale was that the name Liefmans should continue to be used. In 1974 the brewery
was again sold to English brewers Vaux before being sold back into Belgian hands
in 1985. The brewery was then owned by the Riva brewers of Dentergem,
but when the folded in 2007 brewing stopped for a year until it was brought back
into production by the Moortgat brewery.
