Peters Brauhaus

Location:         Monheim am Rhein, Germany

Website:          Peters Brauhaus

Peters Brauhaus was founded in 1847 when Peter Josef Peters (note the Peters in “Peters Brauhaus” is the surname rather than the possessive of Peter) received permission to brew beer in Monheim am Rhein. By 1965 the brewery was called “Monheimer Brauerei Peters & Bambeck “. In 1994 the Peters & Bambeck brewery bought the former “Zum Kranz” brewery in Cologne and rebuilt the building back into a traditional Cologne Kölsch brewery, where it is still trading today. In addition to Peters Kölsch, the Monheim brewery was brewing a total of six other beers in the year 2000. Alas in 2004 the company was taken over by the vast brewing and drinks company Brau & Brunnen and a short time later the historical brewery in Monheim was closed. Since 2004 Peters Kölsch has been brewed by the Gilden Kölsch Brewery in Köln-Mülheim.
