Quilmes was founded in 1888 by German immigrant Otto Bemberg. It is currently held by Luxembourg based company Quinsa who own 93%. In 2002 the rest of the company was bought out by Brazilian brewery company AmBev, who merged with Interbrew to create the massive brewing group InBev.
