Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company

Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States of America
Website: Schlitz
One of the most iconic breweries in the world was founded
by German immigrant Joseph Schlitz who cam to the USA in 1850. In 1856 he took
over management of a brewery after the owner died, married the widow and renamed
it to Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company.
Although the brewery enjoyed many years of success in 1982 it was acquired by
the Stroh Brewery of Detroit. The Schlitz brands are sometimes produced by the
Pabst Brewing Company and the brewery buildings are now home to offices, a
school and a restaurant.
