Schöfferhofer was never really a brewery but actually the area of farm land named after a Mainz book printer Peter Schöffer and as far back as 1512 a brewhouse was built on the site. The brewhouse and the name of Schöfferhofer fell through many different hands until in 1978 it fell under control of the Radeberger-Gruppe.
