Unicer was created from the merger of seven breweries in Portugal including Companhia União Fabril Portuense (CUFP), Companhia Portuguesa de Cervejas (COPEJA) and União Cervejeira de Portugal (IMPERIAL) to create the Companhia União Fabril Portuense. At the end of 1977 this company went onto to be Uniao Cervejeira or Unicer. It is also the Portuguese distributor of Carlsberg, Guinness and Tetley's.
