Van Eecke on the Global Beer Network Site
Brewing in the region of Watou has been recorded as far back as 1629 when the Van Yedegem family were granted the rights to brew in their family owned castle. In 1862 the brewery was taken over by the Van Eecke family who renamed it Gouden Leeuw (Golden Lion). After World War II the brewery started to produce the Het Kapittel Abbey Beer.
