The history of the Villacher brewery goes back to 1738 when records show a brewery in Villach under the guidance of Jakob Fischer. in 1918 the owner Johann Koutnik created the United Kärntner Breweries by merging with the Gösser Brewery and the Firma Gebrüder Reinighaus, plus some other smaller breweries.
