There’s always some pedant all too willing to point out a mistake with what you’ve presented. I’m the first to admit I’ve taken certain liberties and simplifications with what I’ve done here. This is an attempt to explain the reasons why I’ve presented some of the information in the fashion I have done.

Breweries

Breweries, like any form of business I guess, can be taken over, renamed, merged, closed down, moved or sold off. The politics of such actions aren’t really suitable for discussion here, although this is an issue I may cover on my “blog” page. I’ve presented the breweries in my site, where I can, as the original brewery of the beer. So for example, my Ansells Ale glass is listed under Ansells, even though the brewery was merged with two others to form Allied Breweries, which itself was further merged with Carlsberg to become Carlsberg-Tetley and has since been renamed to just Carlsberg UK. There are many more examples of this type of daisy chain and I have made every effort to ensure that the information I present is accurate and correct. If you feel I am wrong about something though, please do mail me to let me know.

Countries

Similarly the country that a beer may claim to come from can be rather like paying lip-service to something. Global brands like Guinness, Carlsberg or Heineken are obviously not all brewed in Ireland, Denmark or Netherlands respectively but are brewed under licence in various locations round the world. Even though there may be serious doubts that the beer glass in question has actually come from the country of origin of the brewery or beer, I have listed the glass under that country. Hey, it’s my site so I guess I can do what I want!

The second point about countries is that I have split out some countries into areas or provinces that aren't actually countries. The best example is that I have split Great Britain into the various "countries" of England, Scotland, Wales etc (that's when I actually get my hands on any Scottish or Welsh glasses!) The reasons for this are two fold, 1) I like flags and 2) it looks like my collection covers more countries than it does in reality! As a New Yorker would say, "Hey, so sue me!"
