Peter
and Anne Bell have been running Village Farm in Pilling, Lancashire since
1982. When we moved here with our 2 little boys we set about creating
a high quality dairy farm producing over 200,000 litres of milk per year.
Times have moved
on, for the boys and for us. The boys have their own jobs now, and we
have now expanded into the beef market. Since 2003 we have been selling
our home-reared beef direct from the farm.
We
milk about 40 cows and keep their calves - some to become milkers, and
others to join the beef herd. We specialise in the Muese Rhine Issel breed
and Meine Rine Issle / Belgian Blue Cross. We chose these because they
are excellent "dual purpose" animals. They provide quality milk,
and are a well shaped beef animal.
During December
we also sell Christmas Trees, and Anne makes Holly Wreathes on the farm
There are
some pictures below taken from around the farm. Some of our milk
cows, holly wreaths, christmas trees, and the newset arrival born
21/10/2007.
