This year (2002) I have had a very interesting result from my youngsters from a pair of Black Brown split Grey birds.
The resulting youngsters (8 in all) from two nests are all melanistic to some degree or another, some show no breast markings at all and are completely black on the breast through varying amounts of black on the breast to almost but not quite normal................
No idea why, my management is 100% the same as the last few years, no lighting difference no diet difference, bred many youngsters in the same cage with normal results, tthe siblings from this breeding pair are producing normal offspring.......
These birds leave the nest looking perfectly normal but moult out as you see here, the cages they moulted out in contained other youngsters that moulted normal...........
Anyway here they are judge for yourself, and I will let you know what occurs with these birds as time goes on......
