Cum Spiritu

Cum Spiritu is a small choir of local singers who enjoy singing sacred music together. They performed their first choral evensong on March 25th, Mothering Sunday, at Riby Church, to an appreciative congregation. If anything, the power cut that lasted through half of the service added to the atmosphere, as candles and oil lamps were hastily found and the organ was hand-pumped for the hymns! The repertoire was unaccompanied and included the introit anthem 'Call to Remembrance' by Richard Tarrant, 'Preces and Responses' by Smith, the 'Magnificat' and 'Nunc Dimittis' from Gibbons Short Service and the anthem 'If Ye Love Me' by Tallis. The choir would like to visit churches in the Lincoln Diocese area to sing choral evensongs as special occasions, particularly where there is no resident choir, and to take cathedral-style music out into the rural parts of the diocese. If you would like to know more about the choir please contact me for further details. bevaltoft@stbartskeelby.co.uk
