BACKGROUND

Molly is a streetwise young woman who has lived in Whitechapel all her life. Since she was a small child, she's had to fend for herself, doing whatever she needs to do to earn a living. The daily grind of life in Victorian London's worst slum leaves little time to dream, but she's always loved to hear sailors' stories about far-off lands and wondered what it would be like to go to them. Anything has to be better than Whitechapel in the shadow of the Ripper, doesn't it?

Molly is sneaky, stroppy and cynical but she has a sentimental streak a mile wide and can be very charming when she wants to be. Though she's never worried too much about breaking the law, she does have a strong sense of natural justice. She won't take from anyone worse off than her and she won't betray her friends or break a freely-given promise. She's no great fighter, but she's not afraid to get violent if she has to stand up for herself and her friends.
