The region has an enormous amount to offer. Water sports on the coast, rivers and lakes, mountain biking in the hills. Swimming from gently sloping – and clean! – beaches, waterworld fun at Aqualand, Cap d’Agde, climbing in the Pyrénées.
Imposing ancient Cathar castles. The peaceful Canal du Midi, Carcassonne with its medieval walled city. The tax-free zone of Andorra. Elegant shops, ancient villages, abbeys, underground caves, fishing ports, Roman remains, the list is endless. Many of the historic towns and villages are well known: Pézénas, Agde, Perpignan, Montpellier . . . . and with Spain less than two hours away, you can also visit the Salvador Dali museum at Figueras.
