The Birds of Britain & Europe - Frequently Asked Questions

1. Does it work on a DVD player and a computer?

Yes, all the discs have a menu to allow fast access to the species you’re interested in.

4. Are songs and calls included?

No, the emphasis has deliberately been kept on the moving footage. Everyone already has at least one field guide with range maps and illustrations and we saw no need to duplicate that; instead we’ve stuck to what DVD is best at - moving footage.

7. I’ve heard there are two audio tracks - how does that work?

Yes there is a subtitle track with details on the plumage shown (eg juvenile, breeding male) and where and when the birds were filmed. You can switch this subtitle track on or off by using the remote control for your DVD player, or on a computer a menu item will allow you to switch it on or off.

9. I live in North America, will they play on my DVD player?

Probably not. They have been made in the European format (PAL). Some DVD players in the North American market will accept this format, but others won’t. You will have to check the specification of your particular player.
