Wing Commander Johnny Baldwin had led a team of four pilots from the RAF Central Fighter Establishment on attachment to the USAF in Korea. He flew with the 16th Fighter Interceptor Squadron of the 51st Fighter Interceptor Wing. He was a very experienced fighter pilot with an impressive record of 15 victories in World War II. He was flying a weather reconnaissance mission and was seen to enter cloud. He was not seen again and there were no calls from him.
