ALAN
HANKINSON
It is with
great sadness that we record the sudden death of Alan
Hankinson on
4th June 2002. Alan was the moving force in
establishing
the East Riding Smallholders' Society and was its
first
Chairman, having recognised the need for an
additional
organisation to geographically supplement the North
Yorkshire
Smallholders' Society. It is a tribute to Alan's
sensitivity
and diplomacy that our society was able to launch
itself as a
'sister' organisation to the NYSS and that much of
our initial
membership chose to remain members of both societies.
Sadly, Alan
had little time to appreciate and enjoy the fruits of his
labours in
founding the ERSS. He will be missed.
Alan's wife,
Shirley, we are pleased to report has decided to continue
her
membership of the ERSS and she has expressed her appreciation
of the
sympathy and support she has received from other members in
her
bereavement.
