Welcome to the Blandford Leisure Centre Action Groups (BLCAG) Website

A Night at the Movies Concert details available here.

The BLCAG was set up in 2007 with the remit of saving Blandford Leisure Centre after North Dorset District Council announced that it was unable to support Blandford Leisure Centre financially after April 2010 due to the financial constraints placed upon them.

The BLCAG has three principal goals:

  • To investigate alternative ways of funding
  • To raise awareness of the facilities at the centre
  • To secure the future running of Blandford Leisure Centre

The group comprises representatives from a range of organisations that all have an interest in the leisure centre including Blandford Forum Town Council, the District and County Councils, The Secondary School Foundation Governors, The Blandford School, the DT11 Partnership, Blandford Camp and a sports club representative.

The BLCAG is currently working with local parish councils, most have been given presentations and all have received a letter requesting their financial support, and you can see the response on your local parish council here.

We have also been talking to the Primary Care Trust, County Council and the District Council, asking them if they would also be willing to support Blandford Leisure Centre financially, we await their response. Local Doctor Practices are also being targeted for their funding due to the health benefits of the facility; Milton Abbas and Milborne St Andrew Practice have already pledged their support.

The Biggest way to help is to encourage your local parish council and other larger councils to support the Blandford Leisure Centre financially so as to ensure that this vital and well used facility survives. For ways to help BLCAG click here.
