Version

Release Version 2.0 -- added astrometric and image dimension facilities. Many thanks to Al Testani for his sample code.

Installation

Install the file "piFOVCalc.dll" into your AstroArt directory, and the files "FOVCameras.txt" and "FOVTelescopes.txt" into your Windows directory.

Operation

The GUI should look like this:

  1. Select camera/telescope using the pull-down combo boxes, or enter the dimensions of your system directly into the relevant fields. The field of view is displayed.
  2. With aperture and CCD dimensions entered, you can enter the required field of view and the required f-number will be calculated.
  3. Create new presets for the combos by editing the two text files, following the syntax of the existing entries. On startup, the first entry is used as the default.
  4. For images with astrometric data calculated click on the F-num? button to evaluate the focal ratio of your system. The field of view will also be calculated.
  5. Use the Get Resolution button to use the current image to set the image size. This will either be used to update the pixel size (useful if you have resized the image), or to set the area of the CCD represented by the image (useful if you have cropped an image).
