Venus,
Evening StarThis is a setting Venus, the phase indicating the direction sunlight is coming from. It was taken on the 10th of February 2009, and by the end of the month the planet will present us with a larger disc and a much thinner crescent, while maintaining the same brightness, some -4mag.
The job was done with an old Philips webcam and a 14" Meade LX200. The planet was close to setting and in the murky horizon atmosphere and I was racing to finish the job before the full Moon rose high enough to add more problems.
Philips' own software for acquisition and Registax for processing.
