FROM A RABBIT HUTCH TO A PALACE

The impressive portals of Ossett's new brewery. Visitors will have followed signage with the new crisp version of the company's logo, which itself is developed from the arms of the town of Ossett. Click for a higher resolution image.

In early 2006 the Izakayah Pub Company, Ossett's tied estate had expanded even further with the acquisition of the Shepherd's Boy on Huddersfield Road, Dewsbury and The Oddfellows at Elland. Both pubs were re-furbished and re-opened. 

At the end of 2006 Ossett acquired the Riverhead Brewery at Marsden with its brewery tap and heavy involvement in local traditions, so they're now sponsors of the Marsden Silver Prize Band. The Riverhead Brewery remains in place with wider distribution via Ossett Brewery. By Summer 2007 the tied estate will comprise some ten pubs including The Tap at Ossett, formerly the Masons Arms on The Green, and Fernandes Brewery Tap in Wakefield. 

Ossett's award-winning beers have long been renowned across the whole of the North and beyond for their clean crisp hoppy flavours. A fact you may not have known is that all Ossett beers are single varietal hop beers. The only other ingredients are water, malt and yeast, a formula which hasn't let them down yet! Beers to note in Spring 2006: Hop Skip & Jump at 4.3% also Firestorm, Pearls of Wisdom and Oregon Pale.

The Ossett Brewing Company are delighted to announce the following additions to their estate of Public Houses:

 

THE SHEPHERDS REST 125 Bolton Brow, Sowerby Bridge.HX6 2BD            Landlady:   Sasha Davies

 

OPENS:   Friday 28th October, 5.00pm

 

 

THE TRAVELLERS INN Tanhouse Hill, Hipperholme.HX3 8HT               Landlady:   Liz Crosby (now at Fernandes Brewery Tap)

 

OPENS:   Friday 2nd December, 5.00pm

 

  • Both of these public houses are Freehold and were previously owned by the Admiral Inns pub group.

 

  • We have undertaken substantial refurbishment in each property.

 

  • We will be pleased to offer for sale the full range of Ossett Brewery Beers, Timothy Taylor Landlord, a permanent Mild,  changing guest ales and an excellent range of fine wines and international bottled beers.

 

  • These new additions to our current award winning pubs will increase our estate to 5 public houses.
