TR/CIA Resistance Meter Developments
Pseudosection Kit - electrical sections
Pseudosection kit
Although the TR/CIA meter was specifically designed for use with the popular twin probe array for quick and detailed area surveys. It can be used in a different configuration to produce vertical electrical sections.
To generate a section a number of probes, say 20, are set out at regularly spaced increments along a straight line. The meter is then used in the Wenner configuration to record all the measurements possible along this traverse. Using special software the data is processed to produce a verticle section through the ground. The section below shows the result of a TR/CIA meter pseudosection survey, using 20 probes at 0.5m pitch - it clearly shows the 18C brick culvert which was discovered several years earlier following excavations further along the culvert. The drawing and photograph below, from the excavation report, clearly shows the accuracy of the pseudosection results.
