There are so many reasons why a good massage can be very beneficial, both physically & psychologically, but the most common is simply to relieve stress, providing the ultimate way to relax.

Key Benefits

  • Relaxing / Reduces Stress
  • Natural Pain Relief & Aids Recovery from Injury
  • Uplifts the Spirit & Refreshes the Mind

  • Swedish Massage

This is the basic form of massage, involving stroking movements, as well as kneading and percussive techniques over fleshy, muscular parts of the body, with the aid of a base oil to reduce friction. It is therefore necessary to remove clothing (except underwear), but you will be kept warm with the use of towels draped over you, as you relax upon a padded couch, listening to soft, calming music.

  • Aromatherapy

This involves gentle massage, treating physical & psychological conditions with the use of essential oils, blended with a carrier oil, tailored to your individual needs. Blends for home use in the form of creams, oils, or for use in the bath, or simply inhaled can also be purchased.

  • Indian Head Massage

This traditionally involves a seated massage of the upper back, neck, shoulders, arms, face & scalp, with or without oil.

  • Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage

This is a special type of very gentle massage, for people with oedema (swellings), often as a result of enforced lack of mobility, surgery or even long haul flights.

  • Sports Massage

This can be:

  1. Pre-event massage (stimulative)
  2. Post-event massage (relaxing)
  3. Remedial massage (helping repair sore or damaged muscles)
  4. Maintenance massage

Generally, sports massage is deeper & more vigorous than other types & helps improve sporting performance by aiding muscle recovery time between training sessions. Therefore in say a 2 month training schedule, the body can cope more easily with a greater number of training sessions, thereby achieving a higher performance by target goal date.
