John Burton tells us, "We had another brilliant
time at the Acorn Brewery on 25th April, in the
company of our friends Dave, Steve and colleagues.
They recently moved to new premises which includes
a visitors' room that proved perfect for the loyal
toasts and songs. With excellent beer flowing and
with the Boys on screen and everyone spiffed, what
better way to spend a Friday evening?"

It was a case of "another nice mash you've got
me in here" at Acorn Brewery when the Brats Tent
toasted their 20th birthday celebrations on 25th
April with an award winning Barnsley beer.
Grand Sheik and member of the Campaign for Real
Ale, John Burton (pictured centre) played Stan
while Ricko Ryan (right) was Ollie and Acorn's
owner/head brewer Dave Hughes (left) was made an
honorary member for the night.
Dave said, "Since we opened the new brewery last
year we have had many visitors, but this group was
definitely one of the most offbeat. The Sons of the
Desert seem to have a thirst for cask ale and it
was a very enjoyable night. Stan and Ollie would
have been proud of their performance."

Grahame Morris adds, "I was relaxing with a nice
cup of tea and reading my copy of the CAMRA
magazine What's Brewing when I opened the
centre pages. I did a fair imitation of Ollie
spitting the tea everywhere when I saw these
familiar faces! "eccentric?, oddball? thirst for
cask ale?," The Sons of the Desert? Surely
not!"
